Aquaculture Programme: Water-Stable Vitamin Delivery
Handling of liquid and coated vitamin forms in fish and shrimp feed production.

Background
Vitamin losses in aqua feed occur both during extrusion and after water immersion. Form selection and coating quality therefore have a direct effect on the nutrient actually ingested by the animal.
Practical Recommendation
- Select coated or water-stable forms for extruded and sinking diets.
- Apply liquid supplements after the drying stage where the process allows.
- Measure water stability over a defined immersion period for each batch.
- Store liquid products below 25 degrees Celsius and avoid freezing.
Observed Benefits
- Higher retained vitamin activity after extrusion reported in aqua feed trials
- Improved water stability of the finished pellet
- Supports growth performance parameters in fish and shrimp studies
Retention depends on extruder configuration, residence time and diet matrix. Validate with your own process data.
